New head of Supply Chain: “I believe in doing small changes every day”

"My plan is to start spending more time on site as soon as the situation allows it. I’m really looking forward to it," says Adrian Kaczmarczyk, Nokian Tyres' new SVP, Supply Operations.

Starting a new job in the middle of pandemic is not easy. Adrian Kaczmarczyk, Nokian Tyres' new SVP, Supply Operations and a member of Nokian Tyres’ Management Team knows this first hand.

– I’m in charge of our supply operations, and I’m not a person who likes to manage an organization from an office. Normally, I always go to the factory and connect with the people, but this is now restricted by the coronavirus, which means I do probably have to spend more time on the phone and Teams. My plan is to start spending more time on site as soon as the situation allows it. I’m really looking forward to it, he says.

Adrian started familiarizing himself with the company and business gradually during H1 and officially started in his new job as of September 1. He already knew Nokian Tyres’ solid and strong brand and is very impressed by the company culture, which he describes people and result oriented.

– People are very dedicated. They enjoy working for Nokian Tyres and they are proud of being part of the organization. This inspires me, Adrian says.

Adrian was born in Poland, but he has grown up in Germany. After obtaining his degree (Dipl. Ing.) in Mechanical Engineering, he has been working in different countries: the Netherlands, Australia, and the US. He has 24 years of experience in leading and developing supply operations for global companies, such as Chemours, Imperial Logistics, Henkel, Siegwerk and Avery Dennison. He holds an MBA from University of Surrey, UK.

– I’m a strong believer in continuous improvement, and I think it happens in small steps. It’s about small changes you do every day, Adrian says.

Adrian’s job has always required heavy travelling, so for a father of two, relaxing means spending quality time with family and friends. To reduce stress, he usually goes mountain biking, hiking, or does some other outdoor activity.

– I’ve lived in various cultures during my career, which has helped me to better understand how people think. I’ve enjoyed multiple aspects and ways to look at things. It has helped me to broaden my horizon and to think about change in a positive way, Adrian says.
