Nokian tyres are the test winners in the 2012 German summer tyre tests

Seven test wins for the premium brand Nokian from Finland, which outperformed all other brands

Top ratings from the German car magazines “Auto Bild exemplary”, “Auto Bild test winner”, “auto Test test winner”, “gute Fahrt recommendation” and “Auto Bild allrad exemplary”

Shortest braking distance of all the tyres on wet and dry surfaces

Nokian tyres are the test winners in the 2012 summer tyre tests of the German car magazines “Auto Bild”, “Auto Zeitung”, “auto Test”, “gute Fahrt”, “Auto Bild allrad“, “pro mobil” and “Firmenauto Transporter”. With seven test wins in the tyre tests, the premium brand Nokian from Finland outperformed all other brands.

The top ratings of “Auto Bild exemplary”, “Auto Zeitung test winner”, “auto Test test winner”, “gute Fahrt recommendation” and “Auto Bild allrad exemplary” show the outstanding qualities of the summer tyres of the world’s leading winter tyre specialist in the respective test report.

Nokian came second in the “auto motor sport" test, scoring the top rating “especially recommended”. The German automobile association ADAC and the magazine of the consumer protection organisation “test Stiftung Warentest” gave it the grade “very good” for “dry”, “good” for “wet”, and likewise “good” for fuel consumption. The result in the Auto Club Europa ACE GTÜ tyre test and in the German car magazine “sport auto” was "Recommended". The Nokian SUV tyre was also “highly recommended” in the last “Auto Zeitung” off-road tyre test.

Nokian Z G2: “Auto Bild” praised it as a "Convincing all-rounder with the shortest braking distances” and “low fuel consumption”.
“Auto Bild” and “auto Test” praise the Nokian Z G2 as follows: “Strengths: convincing all-rounder with the shortest braking distances on wet and dry surfaces, good steering precision, stable directional control, and low fuel consumption.” Its braking distance is nearly 28 metres (!), and 22 metres shorter than the worst of all 50 car tyres tested on a wet surface. “The Nokian Z G2 has the best grip” and guarantees maximum safety.

“Auto Zeitung” writes the following about the winner in its “overall evaluation”: “A clear victory for the Nokian H, which not only passes with flying colours on wet surfaces, but is also utterly convincing on dry surfaces and in the rolling resistance test.” The important “Wet test results”: “Quickest in handling, top in terms of driving safety and very strong in braking: The Finnish Nokian is a genuine professional on wet surfaces.”

“Nokian wins the comparison”

“TEST RESULT>> Nokian wins the comparison” reads the headline in “gute Fahrt”. “Nokian Z G2 / For the first time Nokian brings home a win in the GF tyre test.” “And it completely deserves to, as the very balanced Finn scored top marks not only for braking on wet surfaces but also for rolling resistance.”

“Auto Bild allrad” rates the test-winning Nokian Z G2 extremely positively: “Strengths: outstanding performance on wet roads, also very good on dry roads, very quiet.” “Test winner is the tyre of the relatively small Finnish manufacturer Nokian, who … performs outstandingly in the road disciplines. Its qualities on wet road surfaces are particularly impressive.”

“Outstanding braking performance”, “lowest rolling resistance” according to “auto motor sport verdict”

The “auto motor sport verdict” is also excellent: “Outstanding braking performance on wet surfaces, lowest rolling resistance in the test, good comfort and low road noise levels.” The verdict from “Firmenauto” reads the same. The Nokian has the shortest stopping distance on wet roads and the lowest price of all the car tyres tested, while other premium tyres are 22 per cent more expensive.

The double test winner Nokian Hakka C Cargo shows these “Strengths” at “pro mobil”: “Very good and harmonious on both wet and dry surfaces: high safety margin in aquaplaning, balanced equilibrium … low rolling resistance.” The Nokian Hakka C Cargo is also the double test winner in the “Firmenauto Transporter” test with these “Strengths”: “Very good on both wet and dry road surfaces. High aquaplaning safety. … low rolling resistance.”

Nokian tyres drive very safely and save fuel

The tests prove that Nokian tyres offer a very high degree of safety and save fuel. The shortest braking distance on both wet and dry surfaces can save lives and prevent high accident costs. Stopping on time is especially important on wet road surfaces, where braking distances are much longer than on dry roads. Nokian tyres only consume small amounts of fuel because they have a low rolling resistance. That is especially appealing during the more pleasant times of the year when you drive more and fuel is very expensive. But you shouldn’t trade savings in fuel for reduced safety.

You want to drive safely in both wet and dry weather. On rainy days in the summer the tyres have to ensure solid traction on wet surfaces, summer storms require major aquaplaning safety. But most of the time the weather is nice, and then good dry qualities are in demand. Tyres should offer precise handling, fast steering responses and a firm grip; then you feel safe and can really enjoy driving. Everyone appreciates nice comfort on long holiday journeys with low noise.

The winning Nokian Z G2 was designed for high-speed, high-performance cars and sports cars and is available from tyre dealers in 34 sizes from 16 to 20 inches, for the speed categories W (270 km/h) and Y (300 km). For SUVs, the tyres are available in 16 sizes from 17 to 22 inches for the speed categories V (240 km/h), W (270 km/h) and Y (300 km/h).

For tyre-changes at your local tyre service centre, Nokian tyres are available at competitive prices, as well as complete wheels including rims and tyres.

Nokian Tyres – the world’s leading winter tyre expert

Being the world’s leading winter tyre expert, Nokian Tyres is the only tyre manufacturer in the world that focuses on products and services that facilitate safe transportation in Nordic conditions. The company's innovative passenger car, van and heavy-duty machinery tyres are mainly marketed in areas that have snow, forest and changing seasons that make driving conditions demanding. Nokian Tyres also offers tyres especially tailored for the milder Central and Eastern European climate.
For over 75 years, the company has been developing, testing and patenting solutions that promote driving safety and is the inventor of the winter tyre. The world's first winter tyre was created to tackle the freezing temperatures and winds in 1934. Since then, top-range products refined with northern know-how have been introduced on a regular basis.
The world’s northernmost tyre manufacturer tests its products under demanding and extreme conditions at its own test facilities in Ivalo, 300 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. At the beginning of the 1990s Nokian Tyres became the first company to develop unique slush planing tests for winter tyres. In 2002, Nokian Tyres introduced the Nokian WR, which was the first winter tyre designed for fast driving (M + S) in the world. This was followed in 2007 by the Nokian WR G2 that has been praised in test reports for its exemplary grip and special ability to prevent slush planing. Its success story is now continued with the new Nokian WR D3 and A3: Nokian WR is test winner in the winter tyre test 2011 of the German car magazine “sport auto” (11/2011) with the judgement “very recommendable”, in the TV show “auto mobil” of the German TV station “VOX” (23.10.11) and with “Auto Plus” (1211/2011), the French version of “Auto Bild”.
The summer tyres from Nokian are also multiple test winners, offer high levels of safety, and save fuel. Nokian tyres are the test winners in the 2012 summer tyre tests from “Auto Bild” (9/2012 + 8/2012), “Auto Zeitung” (6/2012), “auto Test” (4/2012), “gute Fahrt” (3/2012), “Auto Bild allrad” (4/2012), “pro mobil” (4/2012) and “Firmenauto Transporter” (4/2012). ADAC (3/2012) and “test Stiftung Warentest” (3/2012) awarded Nokian the grade “very good” for “dry”, “good”, for “wet” and likewise “good” for fuel consumption. Its rating in the ACE Auto Club Europa GTÜ tyre test (2/2012) and in “sport auto” (4/2012) was “recommended”. The Nokian SUV tyre was also “highly recommended” in the last “Auto Zeitung” off-road tyre test (15/2011).
Nokian winter and summer tyres are developed and tested in harsh road conditions in Finland and shall offer high quality and top-level safety. Respect for the environment is one of the fundamental values of Nokian Tyres. The company has systematically worked towards minimising environmental hazards. The Nokian brand stands for environmentally friendly premium tyres. Nokian Tyres was the first tyre manufacturer to switch over to using only purified, low-aromatic oils in its production. Raw material and material choices are aimed at avoiding unnecessary burdens on the environment. In Scandinavia and Russia the high-value brand has a high level of awareness and a good reputation.
Nokian Tyres’ net sales for 2011 totalled EUR 1,456 million, and it had 3,900 employees. The company owns the Vianor tyre chain that comprises over 910 stores in 23 countries. Nokian Tyres Plc's shares are quoted on the Helsinki Exchanges' NASDAQ OMX.
