NOKIAN TYRES EXPANDS ITS LOGISTIC CENTRE IN NOKIA TOWN AREA

Nokian Tyres plc and Nordisk Renting AB have signed a construction agreement concerning Nokian Tyres’ logistic centre expansion in the town of Nokia, Finland. Nokian Tyres has made a 15-year leasing agreement for the new facilities with an accompanying purchase option. The overall investment amounts to approximately EUR 17 million.

The new logistic centre area will be 34,000 square meters. The construction work will start in autumn 2004 and the building will be completed in the end of 2005. The new centre has storage capacity for approximately 600.000 tyres.

- Efficient operations and strong logistic management during the peak seasons are the key requirements for a Nordic tyre supplier. The logistic centre expansion means that our daily delivery capacity can be even 50 % higher than today, says Mr. Kari-Pekka Laaksonen, Vice President, Logistics and Purchases.

The new facilities will be built beside Nokian Tyres’ 32.000 sguare metre logistic centre that was built near the Nokia town centre in 2001. The maximum storage capacity of the facilities is now approximately 600.000 tyres.
