Nokian Tyres HakkaPELIITTA 9 SUV

This review is mostly just feedback for Nokian engineers. This will be the 6th winter I'm running Hakka8's (a now obsolete product) on my V8 Grand Cherokee Limited. These tires last very well, almost too well. I bought them from Kal Tire in Hinton, AB, Canada in October of 2017. They still feel good on dry pavement, smooth, relatively good steering response. They still appear to have a lot of tread left after 5 winters, or about 25 months of use. My GC has 160K km now so about 20K per year, so the tires have about 42K km on them by my best estimate. They are grippy on ice even without the studs, the problem with them is that the stud appear to wear faster than the rubber. For the first winter I could hear the studs ripping the ice leaving stop signs with polished black ice. I can't hear the studs work at all any more. It's a great winter tire without the studs and lasts very well but make the studs longer or stronger, or larger or something. I've read the H9's allegedly fix some of these problems but the message to the engineers is make the studs last longer.

Hakka 9 SUV 225-60-18 This is my 5th set of Studded Nokian and it will not be my last. Less noise than the previous generation, traction is the same or a little better!

I had the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 SUV studded tyres installed on my vehicle here Calgary, Alberta, Canada, by Kal-Tyre mounted on 20" replica wheels on the 5th of November 2020. Here in Alberta, we recently had blizzard conditions with anything up to 30cms of snow. The Nokians gripped ice and snow without any slipping like velcro. Braking and accelerating is done with complete confidence. Going up towards the mountain's, Banff and Lake Louise area the tyres performed extremely well and gave me full confidence while keeping me and my family safe within the vehicle. This tyre should be made compulsory for ALL vehicles here in Alberta for winter driving conditions. This studded tyre is simply the BEST studded winter tyres on ice and snow. Top marks and first class. Thank you Nokian for manufacturing this tyre for extreme winter conditions.

I’ve have a set of Hakka 8’s for 6 winters now on 4 different Yukon Denali ! Just today I had a side wall puncture an had to purchase 2 new Hakka 9’s ! Just have to say what a great tire a shit I got my money’s worth ! I live in Quebec, Montreal area an winters sucks ! These tires kick ass on the black ice ! I’m a life long customer! Keep up the good work Nokian

I am a Volunteer Fireman in the mountains of Idaho in the US. I have these tires on my 2007 Range Rover Supercharged Sport which I often use to respond to calls in the mountains. Most of the time I am the first on scene.The engineering of the Range Rover shines through in these rough conditions because the tires are beyond excellent. It really doesn't matter if it is ice, snow, rough terrain or hills. The tires grip like claws. I have never had tires perform anywhere near as good as these do. I have used Nokian tires before but this is the first time I have had the studded ones. Absolutely incredible.

These tires offers the best performance when you choose to have them studded. While everyone are slipping in the snow and ice because they don't care about buying quality tires I can proudly drive in the worst weather conditions without even loosing control when mixed to an AWD vehicle. They might be a bit more expensive compared to the competition but I think you are buying for quality and safety here and I will definitely buy another set of Nokian studded tires.
